Do it yourself lawn care advice for a Green & Weed Free Lawn
Objective: A green & weed free lawn
Method: Apply 4 to 5 pounds of Nitrogen per 1000 square feet of lawn during the year. Regularly spray for weeds and patrol for insects and diseases. Mow and water regularly.
- Treat weeds with Broadleaf herbicide such as Tri-Mec or Weed-B-Gone throughout the season. Read & Follow The Label!!
- Water weekly with 1 to 1-½ inches of water. Subtract rain amounts between waterings. WATER DEEPLY and at LONG INTERVALS!
- Mow no more than 1/3rd of the grass blades height in any one mowing. Mow at a 3" height. This means that the grass should not be longer than 4-½ inches in length before mowing occurs. MOW HIGH & MOW OFTEN!
- Mow with a SHARP blade! Sharpen after every 8 hours of mowing.
- WATER IN THE MORNINGS and MOW IN THE EVENINGS!
- DO NOT USE THE SAME SPRAY BOTTLE FOR HERBICIDES AND INSECTICIDES. USE TWO DIFFERENT SPRAY BOTTLES. FILL WITH CLEAN WATER.
- R-(&F) T - L --- READ AND FOLLOW THE LABEL! The label is the law. Use the lowest amounts of pesticide recommended on the label to solve your pest problem. Wear proper protective clothing and launder the clothing separately from your family wash.
CONCLUSION:
